Day 3 Maa Chandraghanta લાલ लाल
Maa Chandraghanta
The third night honours Maa Chandraghanta, who wears a half moon shaped like a bell on her forehead and rides a tiger. She stands for courage.
What red means
Red is said to stand for strength, courage and passion. It is also the colour of the chunri offered to the goddess.
What to wear for Garba in red
For women
A red bandhani or gharchola style chaniya choli with gold work. Red is the easiest night to look festive with very little effort.
For men
A red or maroon kediyu with a white dhoti, or a red bandhani safa with a cream kurta.
Colours that go with red
Gold, white and green. A green or gold border on red is a classic Gujarati combination.

A Garba tip for night 3
Red nights photograph beautifully. If you are dancing with someone new, agree before the night whether you are both happy to be in each other’s photos.
